The first unit in Nelson Phonics Workbook 2 revisits skills to determine the student’s readiness for Workbook 2 tasks.

Nelson Phonics Workbook 2 targets:

• consonant blends at the beginning of words, including ‘s’ blends (eg: snip, spot), ‘r’ blends (eg: brown, cry) and ‘l’ blends (eg: clown, plane).
• silent ‘e’ (eg: nose, smile)
• vowels (eg: car, moon, boat, sea)
• silent letters (eg: what, knob, wrong)
• special endings (eg: ring, shell, sack)
• sight words (eg: and, it, mum, them, home, me)
